Welcome to River City Science Academy's Community Service/Service Learning Program. At River City Science Academy, we have the pride as one of the leader schools of the Service Learning Program in the State of Florida. Our goals are not only to promote a better local community within our school and city, but also have a global impact. Our past projects include a successful 5K that raised over a thousand dollars for Charity: Water, working a farm to donate all organic foods to L'arche, a home for the handicapped, and spreading a message of peace to our high crime and poverty ridden title 1 schools. Our club and program is run by the middle and highschool students of RCSA and by two teachers including the dean.
We are not only helping the community but we are also helping to build a family like, and efficent team by going to the Peace Jam conferences where we meet with other schools and programs to learn leadership skills and team building. We talk with Nobel Peace Prize Laurets and discuss global topics and how to solve problems our world is facing today. We also have Peer Mediation and Peer Mentoring programs run at RCSA run by the Community Service and Service Learning Program.
